About WEL

Hey there, I'm Ray Goldsby. Ever since I can remember, the great outdoors has been my solace—hiking, biking, hunting, you name it. Following my passion led me to a Bachelor's in Forest Resources and Conservation at the University of Florida. During those years, I delved into groundbreaking research on night-time respiration in Florida's flatwoods forests, contributing to our understanding of global carbon sequestration.

I didn't stop there. I worked on combating invasive species threatening the Miccosukee Indian Tribe's water reserves near the Everglades. Leadership became my forte as Chair of the Society of American Foresters' UF student chapter. Later, I made waves in wetland restoration at the Florida Forestry Service, taking on the challenge of restoring over a million acres without a set budget.

My journey continued in the Sarasota County Government, spearheading the Navigable Waterway Program and pioneering new funding approaches. Now, at Wetland Extent Landward (WEL), I merge environmental expertise with mitigation strategies to elevate property value and ensure client satisfaction. Building strong partnerships along the way is what drives me in this journey.

Thanks for visiting!

Our approach to the consulting relationship

WEL engages with each client as though they are the only client. We go beyond the client contractor relationship. Acting as Agent for landowners puts a discretionary responsibility on WEL, thus ensuring benefits to the landowner’s property value.

We gladly ‘raise the bar’ and step above in undertaking projects which fall outside the status quo.  These projects may include restrictive easements or deed covenants, conflicting environmental/ecological boundary determinations, expert witness legal testimony and the list grows for each and every WEL Project.

Here at WEL our clients (Principles) remain in contact years beyond the completion of their prepared and completed Projects.

Our Process

Communication

WEL considers communication one of our top priorities. Our process is centered around the landowners goals and objectives and starts with personal face to face communication and most often a chaperoned site visit.

Trust

Large projects, require communication with various entities. WEL will provide clients with a Power of Attorney.  Trust is of utmost importance, and as such we keep our contractual commitments with all project parties involved.

Success

Each WEL project is unique. Depending upon our client objectives, our services usually include a comprehensive phased approach to facilitate success. We provide a defined project plan to create a clear path to the finish line.
