Environmental Enhancements
The Uniform Mitigation Assessment Method (UMAM) provides a standard procedure for assessing the ecological values and functions of wetlands and other surface waters. Compensatory mitigation activities may include, but are not limited to, onsite mitigation, offsite mitigation, Regional Offsite Mitigation Areas (ROMA) and the purchase of mitigation credits from permitted mitigation banks.
Florida's unique geographical position at a latitude of 28 degrees N places it among typically arid regions worldwide. However, despite this alignment, Florida stands out as a slender peninsula dividing the Gulf of Mexico from the Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean Sea, receiving an annual rainfall of over 56 inches. Our state hosts a diverse range of habitats, from the cherished sandhill scrublands, favored by the Scrub Jay (Aphelocoma coerulescens), to the intricate ecosystems of cypress-bayhead swamps, which provide a home for the American Crocodile (Crocodylus acutus).
In instances where development projects encroach upon habitats inhabited by species listed on the Threatened and Endangered (T&E) lists, our services facilitate the responsible transfer of these creatures to more suitable locations. We understand the importance of preserving Florida's rich biodiversity while accommodating necessary development, ensuring the protection and relocation of these valued species.
